Last month, Candela made a powerful debut at UAB Innovation Week, marking a key milestone in the evolution of creative and interactive technologies. The project was presented with the full academic validation of both the UAB-Cruïlla Chair of AI in Music & Arts and the Computer Vision Center (CVC/UAB), recognizing Candela as a solid research-backed tool for artistic innovation.

The highlight of the presentation was a live flamenco performance by collaborating artist Shårky, who used Candela’s reactive system to control sound, lighting and visuals in real time through movement. The piece showcased how flamenco — with its deep roots in improvisation, expressive gesture and emotional intensity — aligns naturally with Candela’s philosophy. The technology responded instantly to each gesture, transforming traditional flamenco energy into an immersive audiovisual experience.

The result was a fusion of heritage and innovation: raw flamenco expression enhanced by a next-generation interactive system. With this debut, Candela positions itself not only as a creative tool, but as an open, research-driven technology that invites artists, developers and researchers to explore new forms of human expression.
